The next Sunday October 12th we will celebrate Columbus Day. Today I thought if really Columbus discovered America. It is because I remembered the last vocabulary homework specially the word “Discovery” that said “Finding something that nobody knew about before”. Also I remembered that when Columbus arrived to Guanahani Island people already lived over there. According to the discovery definition Columbus didn’t discover America because it was already discovered by the native people. Also I read the definition of to “invade” that means “to enter a place using military force”. I think that this definition is more similar to occurred in October 12, 1492. It was a invasion. I hope that never a force of the other planet will discover the earth haw Columbus discovered America 516 year ago.
Happy Columbus Day.

That was an interesting posting! More and more people are deciding, I think, that we shouldn't say Columbus "discovered" America. I love your hope about people from other planets! Very clever!
I also agree with your opinion totally. People used to say to the advantage to themselves. 'Discovery' can be 'Invasion',on the other hand the 'Invasion' may be able to the 'Discovery'. Do you know a word 'JANUS' who has both faces of good and evil....Anyway, I'll give you information about the mountain trail. The mountain is located at the border with Suffok County(North side). If you have a navigator, just put 'Cold Spring Harbor state park‘ (Address :95 Harbor Road, Huntington, NY) and then you can see a big library and parking lot on your right. There is the picturesque village of Cold Spring Harbor, private roads that you can just pass without stopping, great yachts in the sea on the left side, a long trail that you can climb on your right side.
